That is the problem with poor inletting on a lot of bolt action rifles. Match grade barrels in heavy contours but not necessarily the heavy weight are available from numerous manufacturers. Has anyone bought this stock and if so how was the fit and how much work inletting and sanding?

Some aftermarket stocks incorporate Picatinny rails for mounting. If so which is best? They have pages of reviews on parts and do-it-yourself projects for the Most Ruger factory stocks are considered disposable items. Feddersen barrels are not picky about ammo either, unlike most match barrels.

With over 7 million rifles sold, very few seem to remain in stock configuration. Find all posts by Clem-E. FYI, I'd also buy your used parts if that seems to be the rest way to go.

I can see where someone would tackdrivr to put a "short action" in a rifle cut for a "long action", but not by the makers instructions! This is my build. If you go to cheap on an aftermarket trigger and barrel you may not get the tackdriver you want.

Yep this was a single hole-er at yards. Last edited by Dinohntr; at I have a marlin bolt action that has been used and abused and hardly ever cleaned after having 3 generations of kids put the muzzle in the dirt.

Customizing the Ruger 10/22

There are various sites on the internet dedicated to finishing a stock where you can find additional information. According to many who have had this done, a Nemo reworked barrel will shoot right up there with the big name aftermarket barrels. I haven't tried to accurize it yet, so I can't vouch for tacodriver on the Stoc pages. Once you get past the yard mark and want to deliver precise shots on tiny critters or targets way out in the distance, you need clarity and high magnification.

Darn near one tenth shock money! The final finish turned out great and looks awesome with the blacked-out components. The 22 LR round already has such a mild report from a rifle that many people do not use hearing protection, but I wanted to be cautious.

You CAN build one from scratch. Barrels The barrel is probably the easiest component to replace after the stock.

It's definitely not a tack driver but with my cheap Walmart scope I tacidriver hit clays at yards just about every time. Oh and this is all done using cheap Federal ammo.
